Folk School Day Camp2024 Kids Summer Day Camps Instructor Position Description

Camp dates are:

  • May 20 – 24
  • June 3 – 7
  • June 10 – 14

We are seeking an energetic person to work closely with our Lead Instructor to provide fun, engaging day camps for kids ages 7-12. Our day camps center around a wide variety of art and craft activities, and take place in and around Pioneer Park, with a lot of time outdoors.

Qualifications and Skills
The ideal candidate would have experience:

  • working with groups of kids
  • making and teaching arts and crafts
  • leading group games, songs, and/or music
  • flexibilty, ability to adapt plans quickly, and enjoyment of children are a must

The successful candidate will ideally be available for all three weeks of camp, but we will consider those who can work for at least one full week as well. Camp Instructor should be present for a couple of flexible planning meetings in the weeks leading up to camp, set up the weekend prior to camps, and clean and reset on Fridays of camp weeks. Instructor must pass a background check.

The instructor must be 18 or older, have reliable transportation to Pioneer Park, be able to walk 2-3 miles with the group (some days), and be outdoors in a variety of spring/summer weather conditions. This job requires bending and lifting up to 35 pounds. Camp hours are 9:00 am – 3:30 pm, so instructor hours are typically 8:00am – 4:00pm.

Pay $18-20 per hour, DOE.
