Dear Folk School Community, I am writing to share with you that our executive director, Kelsey Bearden Eagan, has stepped away from The Folk School. While this change came sooner than expected, we fully support her decision to prioritize her health and we wish her the absolute best.
Kelsey has left a lasting impact on both the organization and the people she interacted with at, in and around The Folk School. We are extremely grateful for her incredible leadership and dedication over the last year and a half and for the many programs, partnerships, and important groundwork she helped establish during her time with us. Kelsey brought a tremendous amount of passion and vision to The Folk School, and her contributions will continue to shape our work moving forward.
You may be thinking, what happens now? Well, now you should expect that in true Folk School fashion, we will carry on the tradition.
Katie, Kadey, and Sara are excited to continue bringing The Folk School’s mission to life. We look forward to carrying on the work already underway, building on the strong foundation of our community, and continuing to create opportunities for people to learn, connect, and create together.
Thank you for your support and understanding as we navigate this transition. We are grateful for the dedication of our Folk School community. Your enthusiasm and commitment are what make The Folk School such a special place, and we look forward to continuing this work together as we perpetuate the joy of hands-on learning.
With appreciation for your understanding,
April Smurda
Board President, The Folk School
