In this 3 hour class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing a pillowcase. We will review how to set up a machine, adjust the settings, sew straight lines, as well as garment sewing techniques such as French seams and the burrito method. Students will sew a pillowcase for a standard bed pillow.

Required Materials:

  • Sewing machine (A limited number of sewing machines are available to utilize if you don’t have your own. Please let us know if you need to borrow one.)
  • 3/4 yd light cotton fabric, prewashed
  • 1/4 yd contrasting light cotton fabric, prewashed
  • Coordinating thread

Maximum number of students: 6

Minimum number of students: 3

Age range: 16 to adult

Prerequisites: Students need to know how to thread and use a sewing machine.

Cost: $45

Materials fee: None (Students need to supply their own materials for the class.)
