Magic for Kids (2 session class)

Instructor:  Robert Prince

Dates of the class: Two Saturdays: January 27 & February 3, 2018

Time of the class: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm each session

Magic is the process of making the impossible and incredible happen right in front of peoples’ eyes.

Do you dream of wowing your family and friends with impossible feats of illusion? Do you like blowing people’s minds with your mad crazy magic stills? Have you wondered how magic feats are performed? Then “Magic for Kids!” is for you!

Students will learn how the magic tricks are performed, tips for successfully doing the tricks, as well as tools for performing them effectively, such as misdirection.

Students will learn magic tricks with cards, coins, props, and every day items. They will learn both specialized tricks and basic magic skills that can be used in many different illusions. They will also learn some basic cardistry skills—doing fancy moves with decks of cards.

Students will use decks of cards, every day items, and specialized magic props as well as general magic methods that can be used in a variety of tricks.

At the end of the course, students who want to show off their new skills will give a short magic show at the folk school for family and friends.

First I will demonstrate the performance of the trick, then we will go over how it’s done, and finally we will practice performing it ourselves.

Students will be provided with leads for helpful (and appropriate) YouTube magic channels to further their learning.
