Date of the class: Fridays, October 5 – November 23, 2018 (with a performance on November 30th)
Time of the class: 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm each session
Location: Pioneer Park - Cabin 66
We play traditional folk and fiddle tunes from the American, Canadian and European fiddle traditions. Students play in a mixed group of guitar, mandolin, banjo, violin, viola, cello, ukulele, bass, and others. This group is open to students who are in their first few years of playing, although there is room for more advanced students as well. This group setting can be quite enjoyable for young musicians who want a relaxed atmosphere with fun tunes to play. Students with more experience may be interested in leading the jams, taking solos, or trying new instruments.
Each student is given a binder which includes all of the songs and a few other scales and exercises. An audio CD containing tunes from the course material is also included. Students must bring their own instruments to class. If a student is unable to provide their own, I may be able to assist by bringing extra instruments at times. Please contact me for further details about instrument rentals.
