Stone Soup Community GardenProject in collaboration with Bread Line and Calypso Farm and Ecology Center

Volunteers are needed, including (but not limited to) folks with basic carpentry skills.

Date of event: Saturday, May 21, 2022

Time of event: 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

Location: Stone Soup Community Garden (500 12th Avenue, Fairbanks, Alaska 99701)

The Folk School is helping our neighbors at the Stone Soup Community Garden build new raised garden beds to replace several that are in a state of disrepair.

Folk School instructors and volunteers will be building simple raised beds onsite. Representatives from Bread Line and Calypso Farm will be on hand to answer questions about gardening, what grows well in this location, and can provide information about programs of both organizations.

Stone Soup Community GardenStop by to see how the raised beds are built, ask questions, and lend a hand.

This project is part of a collaborative effort between all three organizations to increase food security in downtown and south Fairbanks, funded by donations from our community and a grant from the State of Alaska Division of Agriculture.

Volunteers are needed, including (but not limited to) folks with basic carpentry skills.

Please contact Kerri Hamos at kerri@folk.school to learn more or to volunteer.
